Hello, Colorado.

My name is Brent Ogden.
I am a Front-End Web Developer
Based in Littleton.

About

A Little About Me.

I am currently a Web Developer with 3+ years of experience specializing in responsive front-end development. I am well-versed in HTML5/CSS/PHP and Handlebars, with growing knowledge of JQuery and JavaScript. I pride myself as a self-directed learner who thrives in collaborative and supportive team environments.

I thoroughly enjoy all things related to technology and have enjoyed building websites for as long as I can remember. What I may lack in length of experience or extensive formal training, I make up for in my desire to constantly learn new skills and stay at the forefront of advances in technology.

Much of what I have learned over the last 3+ years as a Web Developer I have learned on my own, or through the tutelage of my colleagues. I have purchased several online courses and have taken opportunities to practice and improve the skills I have learned by implementing them in some of my existing sites.

My ideal position would be one in a collaborative and team-oriented environment where the ideas and suggestions of the group are taken into account and everyone has a chance to contribute. Also important to me is that the company allow the latitude to grow my skills and to seek the knowledge and expertise of the team to better myself and my abilties on the job and in real-time.

What I Do Best.

Over the past 3+ years I have honed my HTML, CSS and JQuery skills, while also taking the inititative to learn some new tools and techniques on my own. I am gaining increasing knowledge of Grunt and Gulp, as well as Handlebars JS and the Git framework. I am currently learning the skills involved in becoming a full-stack developer, as well as gaining knowledge in the React framework. I am constantly seeking to learn new skills, and welcome the opportunity to do so in a potential position.

  • HTML5

This is the skill for which I feel most comfortable. I am well-versed in HTML syntax, structure and terminology and am always eager for opportunities to practice these skills and learn new ones as the technology progresses.

  • CSS

I feel equally confident in my skills in this area. While the complexity of the CSS landscape is constantly changing, I feel very confident in my ability to understand, customize, and write CSS to achieve any desired results. I welcome the chance to put these skills to use and learn modern CSS tools as they come to the forefront over time.

  • Grunt / Gulp / Handlebars

With the help of my colleagues, I took the initiative to learn Grunt, Gulp and Handlebars on my own, and began implementing these tools into the work that I was doing. I have gained increasing confidence in these tools - especially Handlebars - and have even proceeded to convert several sites to the Handlebars framework.

  • Time Management / Efficiency

On of my strongest non-technical skills is my ability to get work done in a timely and efficient manner. I am good at managing multiple tasks at once, and am usually able to complete tasks in advance of a given deadline with quality results.

Career and Education

Places I Have Made My Mark.

After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder, I began my career as a Production Coordinator at National Cinemedia before ascending to the role of QA lead. After 7 great years, I was offered an opportunity to follow my true passion and join the web team at First Data. After a couple of years as a Web Product Manager, I was finally rewarded with a promotion to the job I have desired since graduation - Web Developer.

Experience

April 2015 - Present

First Data Corporation

Web Developer

At First Data, I have had the opportunity to code several websites using HTML5/Handlebars/PHP and our 3rd party CMS tool - Adobe Experience Manager. I have identified and suggested new technologies and tools for enhancing product value and increasing team productivity. My role includes maintaining existing websites as well as the design and delivery of new responsive templates. In addition, I also have converted several existing PHP websites for use with our static Platform - an Apache server on AWS using Grunt/Handlebars. The bulk of my work involves converting PSD files provided by marketers into responsive, bootstrap-based HTML5 websites and landing pages, utilizing task runners and preprocessors - SASS/Grunt/Gulp.

March 2013 - April 2015

First Data Corporation

Associate Web Program Manager

Administered the creation, support, and implementation of BoldChat - our live chat provider used on 100's of sites. I also uploaded and created custom video players, while handling the administration of Brightcove to manage video content across our 100's of sites. I redesigned and administered our SharePoint site used by the Web Team as well as made purchases, configured, and transfered hundreds of domains. These domain responsibilites included submitting DNS requests and facilitating the transfer of domains into our centralized account. While in this role, I served as one of two system admins for our project management tool - Workfront - and created new request forms for various teams within the organization to streamline processes and improve efficiencies. I was fortunate to also assist with content management for various sites - using Adobe Experience Manager, our CMS tool and assisted the Web Team with general QA of various sites and tools.

July 2011 - March 2013

National Cinemedia

Quality Assurance Lead

While at NCM, I performed regression testing and ongoing maintenance on all of our consumer-facing entities (7 websites, 2 mobile apps, and department SharePoint site). I also tested and maintained our two mobile applications across both iOS and Android platforms and worked with the Project Management team, Content Administration team, and Interactive Development team continually on projects from inception/discovery to completion. Additionaly, I entered, tracked, monitored, and assigned tasks into TFS (Team Foundation Server) to facilitate the workload for all teams within the company. I served as the point of contact for ongoing communications with our off-site mobile development team in Argentina to facilitate upgrades/enhancements/new functionality and resolve bugs using our tracking tool, Pivotal Tracker.

December 2005 - August 2011

National Cinemedia

Production Coordinator

In charge of managing the production process from start to finish (handling creative media/orders from point of receipt to finalization) as well as serving as primary administrator of the most widely used database in the company. Duties with the database included: monitoring and fixing issues, making improvements/enhancements, handling questions, implementing upgrades, etc. I also created and maintained several reports in MS Access that were used by VPs and other departments to monitor vital project information. My main responsibility was to work with a small team to ensure that roughly 300 - 800 ads per week were completed, approved, and uploaded by the deadline.

Education

August 2000 - December 2004

After initially pursuing a degree in Computer Science, I decided to switch my degree to Business, hoping to broaden the scope of careers that may be available.
